Why We Hate 2face Idibia

Here’s how to live happily ever after, according to Annie Macaulay’s Book of fairy tale Reality; You get pregnant for your first lover who has got potentials to be the duke of Nigerian music. He breaks your heart, leaves you, and gets other ladies pregnant. A thousand lovers and 5 illegitimate kids later, he becomes a star, and you suck up back to him, remind him of how lovely he is, and then you marry.

Last week, we had a media circus over 2face. Or more rightly, 2face’s ding-dong. Turns out a story gets leaked to the media that our celebrated African prince had found a way to inseminate his pretty account officer, Teniola, and get her all jumpy with a baby in her womb. Kudos, 2baba!

2face impregnating another lady is headline news. It’s like a hat-trick and a sexy blow-job from Lupita Nyong'O, all rolled into one news package…with 2face smiling sweetly on the can. Imagine that. Yes, imagine that.

And contrary to what many feel, calling all of us (yes, Pulse.ng included) 2face haters, I can categorically state that Nigerians are wrong. We love 2face. We’re 2face groupies. If we’re left alone, we’ll make him divorce his wife, and come make babies with us all. We love the man. But when this story came out (God bless Icon Magazine), we just had to give it a good shot. Irrespective of our love for 2face, a story like that will increase our numbers. Our numbers will attract investors and advertisements, and adverts mean we’ll be richer! It’s hard to argue against making some more money….legally. That’s the truth. We didn’t create a lie; we simply amplified a ‘yet-to-be-confirmed’ story. So it’s nothing personal, 2face, it’s just business.

And as for Annie Macaulay Idibia, who is the real victim of all of this, I, Joey Akan, can’t help but feel sad for the lady. All she wants is a good home, with a good wealthy husband, and smart kids to love her silly. But when you get married to a proven playboy with 6 kids from 3 mothers, you’ll get the sick feeling that Annie might have looked in the wrong place for marital fulfillment. 2face might be innocent of this claim, but it’s hard to give him the benefit of doubt, seeing how ‘busy’ his past has been. Stories like this will be a recurrence in their fairytale marriage. And living happily ever-after will forever be a mirage for her.

Emmy Collins Attacks Tonto Dikeh

Nigerian/Dutch designer and social critic, Emmy Collins, has now created wave of followers for himself, no thanks to his stinging, funny and sarcastic attack on many Nigerian celebrities, journalists, bloggers, politicians, men of God and just about anyone he deems fit.

In fact, he is gradually becoming a delight to look out for every week when he drops his much anticipated Diary by Emmy Collins as he is bound to stick it into someone.

After taking on the likes Mercy Johnson, Linda Ikeji, Rev. Chris Okotie and Bishop David Oyedepo, he has turned his attention to controversial Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh, yet again, calling her an ugly babe with no sex appeal whatsoever. Spicing it up with local pidgin, this is what Emmy Collins said ofTonto:

“This ode chic thinks this is sexy, abi? Well, I guess I might have lost touch with what most people deem as sexy these days.

“That tongue makes me wanna say, “nne ijiji ga ebekpu gi na ọnụ o” (Ọmọ, fly go enter your mouth o).

“May I ask whether this is as off-putting to you guys as it is to me?

“My exact words to any chic that sticks out her tongue to me in this manner will be “kam biakwa nne” and she will never see my tail-light again; yuck.”

I am sure Poko will not let this one fly without a reply. We are in for a round of exchanges!

GN exclusive

Elijah Oyelade is a music director of Dunamis International Gospel center, Abuja. He is a man filled with an overwhelming presence of God. He has a great passion for the Gospel music and uses it to reach out to the broken hearted, the lost souls, the backslided and most of all, to everybody out there. He strongly believes that with God, all is possible, and through music, we will get there because worship is God’s last count for the last days. Our entertainment Correspondent cornered him in the middle of his busy schedules where he is doing what he knows best, music ministrations of course and had this breathtaking interview.

Excerpts

Can I meet you?

My name is Pastor Elijah Oyelade. I am the music Director of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

How has it been since you gave your life to God?

I got born again in 1986 and I rededicated my life in 1994, precisely in December and since then I have been in the lord and it has been glory to glory. It is a beautiful experience.

How did you get your inspiration of sing gospel music?

One of the things I have come to realize is that God is passionate about relationship. He desires relationships. To me, I believe that Christianity is all about relationship with God, for me I am in cordial relationship with God. Many times in my life, it may be at the middle of anything I am doing, it just comes. This thing about inspiration is beyond profession, it may be in my private time, i always sing a song anytime I am in the spirit.

Many people are touched with your music ministrations, what is the magic?

God is the magic. I give Him all the glory. People have come to me and ask me what makes my song this impactful and a blessing to as many that listens to them but I say there is nothing special but God. It is just about relationship with God and I know that I love the lord and His presence is with me too. S o when I sing a song, the presence of God is communicated through the song to the the people. One of the things I tell people is that when you sing a song, you are not just a singer but also a pastor, you also communicate through the song. Pastors communicate through the word but a music minister’s is through the song. Whatever concentration or spiritual exercise that you pass through will as well go through, which also commands same aunction and power. Idont see myself as a mere singer, I am a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, through songs and the word also.

What do you have to say about gospel musical artists, are all of them led by the spirit?

You see, music is an Art and a lot of people sing, so many talented to sing. There are various types of singers but here, I am particular about gospel music, I am not saying that all are called by God to sing but I am saying that anybody who can sing, should sing for God. I f you have got some talents of singing, you should sing unto the lord because He alone gives talents. What we see now is that a lot of people focus more on entertainment/music. This is a passion I have, that is music. If you want entertainment, we have got it everywhere, so you don’t have to be a Christian to entertain because the bible said that the gospel of Lord Jesus Christ is not just the word but also the power. St Paul the Apostle said he is not ashamed of the gospel of the lord Jesus Christ, but it is the power of God unto salvation. So I believe that every gospel singer should communicate the depth of God’s power to the listeners and not just entertainment. I am not saying that entertainment is wrong but that it is already there. So the passion of every gospel singer should be how much power of God you can communicate through music. I am really grateful to God for his grace and faithfulness on what this work is doing. Someone sent me a text message and told me that someone was playing this song in a mechanic workshop and suddenly fell under a strong and overwhelming anointing and power of God, the person came out of the car and started speaking in tongues, broke out in the spirit and people gathered around. Another person was also listening to the song and began to prophecy, THESE ARE ALL WHAT GOSPEL MUSIC SHOULD DO, COMMUNICATE God’s power to those who hear them.

Can you talk about your new Album called, Show us your glory?

Yes, actually it is a passion and a vision. The vision is to help the music material that will be evangelistic tool in the hand of God to reach out to everyone around the world. I want to see a situation whereby the music will be a combination of word and music that becomes a tool in the hand of God to reach nations. Music on its own has power to reach the souls of men. We talk about anointed music that can go deep down into the spirit of man and accomplish the change that God desires of His people. It is a passion and when you look at all the song’s line up, it’s a deliberate because it is a progression of worship that climaxed, until you get into the very depth of worship. In a vision, I see this Album communicating the presence of Jesus Christ to everyone that listens to them. Overwhelming their word, yes I said there word, until their world becomes Jesus word. I call this ALBUM Jesus Christ Project; it is in the sense that it is an enforcement of the kingdom of God. Anywhere it is played, it quickens the spirit of Jesus to enforce the presence of God.

As a gospel artist, where do you see yourself in a couple of years from now?

It has been my vision for years back, that through music and word of God, I am going to reach out the nations of the world with the presence of God. The presence of God is what we need in our generation and I believe music is one of the tools, in fact this is the last days and the last count of God is worship and God is going to use instrument of worship to reach out to nations of the world and I believe that I am positioned by the privilege of God to fulfill this passion of God, to carry the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and in worship through the nations of the world, I believe God that very soon I will be recording with great gospel musical artists in the likes of Don Moen, Integrity Music and God will make it come to pass.

How do you combine music with your family?

I am blessed! I thank God, you see one of the sweet things that happens to a man is to be united with a woman, who is like-minded, my wife is also passionate about music, she sings also and has been a great support to the ministry and I appreciate God for her. Music and family is a beautiful thing, we just flow and we all swim in the same vision.

How do you unwind?

Well, I really will not say that I have much time to engage in extra-curricular activities I remember I have been promising my little girl that am going to take her out but I have not fulfill that promise I take break too, anytime I am free, I am always at home with my family.

Any advice for up coming musical gospel artists

I believe that anyone who had a vision of reaching out to people in the realm of music should stay with God. I see a lot of people not ready and rush out to do songs that are deep inspiring, deep lyrics, gospels content of a song is very important, the songs should also be deep in the word of God.

A word for your fans

They should always believe in the word through my music I will never let them down.

Stakeholders applaud creative industry initiatives

A participant in the last capacity building workshop for Nigerian creative industry Mr Ikem Arems has commended the organizers for updating Nigerians in the industry. He made the commendation yesterday in Abuja during interviews with journalists.  He urged film producers in the country to demonstrate resilience in their efforts to promote the creative industry.
The interview was aftermath of a capacity building workshop, organized by the corporation last year to explore the benefits of the event to enhance film production in the country. He said that the five-day workshop, tagged ``SHOOT”, would provide the basis for world class standard in digital film production.
The 2013 edition of SHOOT, which took place in October 28 at the National Film Institute Jos was designed to grow indigenous participation in the industry. An array of international resource persons used  to train the participants brought quality components of high definition film and television production.
It also stressed that the choice of   Plateau as a venue for the programme was because of the infrastructure in the state, adding that it was critical to the development of both the film and tourism industry.
The resource persons available for the workshops were: James Castello for advanced digital cinematography; Dennis Mercier for advanced digital sound production and Eyal Shaphyr for high definition production management for film and television.

Others are George Bartsch for digital editing for film and television, Philip Hoffmann for modern distribution and marketing strategies of film and Sylvie Bringas for contemporary animation for film and television.  It is believed that Nigerian creative industry has the potentials to contribute significantly to the gross domestic growth if well harnessed.

Flavour is said to have been angling for Dillish even before the ‘Ikworikwo’ video they shot together and the attention he has been showering on her could be the reason she broke up with her ex-boyfriend, Stephen, who has not been showing her serious attention – something every woman craves for.

Dillish on her part, has been coming into Nigeria to be with her man at every given opportunity as well as partake in one project or the other, a move that has cemented her in Flavour’s mind. The handsome singer, on his part, has been playing the perfect gentleman for the heartbroken Dillish and they are said to have been keeping each other company as their emotions have been flying everywhere. Flavour even made a song he dedicated to her titled ‘I’m For Real.’

The actor received the first ever distinguished artisan award for his work in films like ‘Edward Scissorhands,’ ‘’Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland.’ In an awards season that seems to have a ceremony for every facet of filmmaking, the Make-up and Hair Stylists Guild awards returned after a 10-year hiatus with an award for Johnny Depp. Depp’s honour was presented by his long-time collaborator and makeup artist Joel Harlow, who is nominated for an Academy Award this year for makeup in “The Lone Ranger.” Depp also starred in the film. “This is a great honor, but glancing up at the screen I realize what a ridiculous thing I’ve done,” joked Depp while accepting his trophy after clips of his work were shown at Paramount Studios theatre on Saturday evening. “I mean seriously, why do they still give me jobs?” he added. “I’ve done a lot of things...I should probably apologize for a few, but I won’t.” Praising the work of the makeup artists who’ve helped him “find the root of each character,” the soft-spoken actor said he liked when his face was molded in “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” “I found, oddly, that I liked being encased in all of that stuff,” he said. “I try something different each time as an actor with the amazing help of makeup artists who have made my whole career.” Resembling the boozy party that is the Golden Globes rather than the formal Oscars, the makeup and hair stylists awards, which honors the best in the business from film to television, was a reunion for the behind-the-scenes artists. Squeals echoed throughout the auditorium as artists with multi-colored hair and thick cat-eye style makeup hugged and kissed. “It’s our circle or little family’s time to celebrate,” said Harlow prior to the ceremony. There to present the award for best contemporary hair styling to the stylists for “Lee Daniels’ the Butler,” best supporting actress Oscar nominee June Squibb called the green lighting “wild.” Turns out she loves the color. She’s even asked Tadashi Shoji to make her a green dress for Oscar night. “I’ve seen a sketch and it’s wonderful!” she added. Some of the evening’s other awards went to Oscar nominees “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” for best special makeup effects and “Dallas Buyers Club” for best period and/or character makeup, while best contemporary hair styling in a television series went to “The Voice.” Makeup artist Dick
Smith and hairstylist Gail Ryan received lifetime achievement awards. Jane Lynch, Ed Asner, Johnny Knoxville, Nicollette Sheridan and Melissa Leo were among the presenters at the charming awards show that even included the engagement of a gay couple. “Just have fun, that’s all this is about,” said Sue Cabral-Ebert, president of the Make-up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild. “It’s not brain surgery.” “You should see the electrical staff’s awards,” joked Arnold. “It’s madness!”.

Benue assembly gets new minority leader

The Benue House of Assembly on Wednesday got a new Minority Leader, Mr Benjamin Adanyi, representing Makurdi South constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress. Adanyi was before his elevation the Chairman, Committee on Culture and Tourism. The Speaker, Mr Terhile Ayua, stated that Adanyi’s elevation became possible due to the vacuum created by a Supreme Court’s ruling. However, Mr Ianna Jato, (Katsina-Ala East), objected to the method used in Adanyi’s appointment, saying it breached the House’s Standing Rules. He said according to Order six of the Standing Rules, it is the duty of members to elect or choose their leaders. Responding, the Minority Whip, Mr Terkimbi Ikyange, appealed to his colleagues to accept Adanyi’s appointment irrespective of the fact that the letter did not capture the views of APC members as was resolved in one of their meetings. Ikyange pointed out that they had met and decided to elect Adanyi as their minority leader and they communicated their decision to the party. ”It was a unanimous decision that was taken by all members of the party in the assembly; it is not the decision of the party. ”Though the process is faulty, it should be viewed as our collective decision,” he said. The former minority leader, Mr Adugu Gbileve, was on January 31 ordered by the Supreme Court to vacate his position.

Keshi explains Agbim drop

Lagos - Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi, has given reasons for leaving out unattached goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim for the international friendly match against Mexico in Atlanta on March 5.

Keshi left out Agbim from a list of 23 players named for the friendly.

The 52-year-old Nigerian manager explained from the United States of America (USA), where he is at present on holidays with his family, that he dropped Agbim since the African champions will play just one international game next month.

"I don't think there is need to start raising issues on players left out of the friendly match against Mexico or those named in the team for the game. It is just a test game to see a few new players and those who we have not seen in a long while. So leaving out Chigozie Agbim and a few other players is no big deal," he said.

Tambuwal absent as Jonathan ushers Bafarawa into PDP

A notable absentee at the rally by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State on Saturday where President Goodluck Jonathan received former governor of the state, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) back into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal.

Tambuwal, an Sokoto State , was conspicuously absent at an event held in the state, which drew notable office holders and party leaders in the PDP fold from across the country.

The speaker, despite his recent assurances that he would remain  in the PDP, is closely associated with the leaders of the APC and is seen as one of those waiting on the wings to defect to the opposition party.

It will be recalled that the same speaker openly attended and received the Governor of the state when he was suspended by the party last year.

. President Jonathan, while speaking at the event,  announced that the party would kick-start its nationwide rallies next week to bring home to Nigerians the successes of the administration, urging the people of Sokoto State to ignore 'the lies' that they were being told by the opposition.

Prominent party leaders that attended the rally include Vice-President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark, PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu; and many PDP state governors, ministers and chieftains of the party.

Jonathan said, 'We want to use Sokoto as an example to show all others that PDP is still the major party in this country. We are going round after this rally in Sokoto state. Next Saturday, we will be going to Imo State. The other week, we will go to Kano State. We may also go to other states, but the national committee is also working out our zone rallies.

'We want to go round the country, all the zones and to tell Nigerians that PDP is still the number one party. And we want to do this before we start election because from the middle of this year, people will begin to become aspirants, because PDP has not turned to anybody,' he said.

In his address, Sambo commended Bafarawa for his bold initiative in joining the PDP with his large followers.

Senate President Mark called on those wishing to join the party to do so promptly in order not to be caught napping, saying that 'the umbrella will soon be filled up; those wishing to join should better do so on time.'

Bafawara assured the PDP leaders that with him in the state, the state would be delivered to the ruling party.
