Asa - Dead Again Vedio

7 Things We Cannot Do Without

From the days of Adam till now, man has constantly been in pursuit of what he needs and what he doesn't need. Among these are things we can't almost not do without.

So, here is a list 7 things we sure can't almost do without. Roll with me.

GOD

Whether you agree or not that there is God and that we need Him, the wonder of nature itself would attest to it.

A NICE BATH

If you disagree, try staying unbathed for days and tell me if you'd feel comfortable in a warm temperature. Worst case scenario, you'd observe people detaching themselves from you and covering their noses like your body was some decomposing corpse. A nice shower, no one can antagonize.

SLEEP

Unless you are Kyle XY who has problem sleeping, sleep is something your body certainly can't do without. I must tell you, there's nothing quite revatilising like a sweet sound sleep.

MOBILE DEVICE

Prior to the advent of social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and the likes, we were painstainkingly rocking the era of Yahoo! And compared to now, that was really no fun, was it? Is it the fact that you buy airtime of #100-200 for 30 mins, or having to wait for a computer user for the same duration, or the unbearably slow network, or the ancient computer system (forget I said this), or the e-mail box that we were all proud of but can only check every once in a while? We wouldn't want to trade this period for then, would we? Now we access internet at our finger tips, and like a gum, we can't just help ourselves without it be it our ipads, tablets, androids, blackberries and our glorified Nokia 3310s. Strip some people of their mobile device and you'd wonder if they were infected with a chronic illness.

FOOD

One word that musn't be sounded in some peoples' ears. It'd awaken that beast called hunger in that dungeon called stomach. The way our bodies were configured by God, it was such that it will always crave for food with a message being sent to your brain 'shaperly'. One time, I went for a programme that required us to fast for some days; no food, no water all through. I felt like the world would come to an end at one point. And when the time came for us to break our fast, the way and manner people rushed into the canteen after the grace, you'd wonder if a wild beast was coming.

LOVE

Before your mind starts wandering sweetly to that partner of yours- or an imaginary perfect partner that exists only in your imagination- consider other sources and avenues of love first, which must be said, remains the only dependable and unfaltering source. Think of God - without God's love, we'd be nothing; family- an ever constant presence in our lives from birth to death; true friends- always there in the good and trying times; partners- well, if your heart has been broken and brutally burgled, you wouldn't agree with anything I say, would you? So I'd just let it slide. But in actual fact, partners do offer us real love and joy at times. And anyone who thinks (s)he can do without love would sincerely be miserable, and beneath that toughness and stubborness lies a willingness and a craving to be loved, trust me.

MONEY

The root of all evil yet the desire of all men. It would be self-deceptive to ignore the importance of money and extremely naive to dismiss the corruptive influence it carries. The extent to which some worship money, they'd rather their wife or children got stolen than their prized money. Money is a voice that can speak so loudly other things would pay attention. And in this present money-grubbing world of ours, you should earnestly start readying yourself (as a guy hoping for a relationship) to sign up as a reverend father.

Are there others things you can't really do without, or you think you can live with some of the above, let's know your thoughts by dropping a comment.

Tyrant Muslim Husband Strangled His Pregnant While, Jailed For 17 Years

Their family life was abusive from the very start as Mohammed Badiuzzaman had forced Sabeen Thandi into a Muslim marriage. They started living together after 2 months of dating in 2012.

The 34-year-old man was described as tyrant who controlled all spheres of his wife's life, he forced her to throw away ‘revealing’ clothes and instead wear a hijab because otherwise she would ‘feel his wrath’.

He even tried to sell her house pretending he owned the property. When the poor woman was no longer able to endure humiliation she filed for a divorce in 2013. Mohammed was not allowed to enter Mrs Thandi's home as she was feared for her children’s safety.

When Mohammed discovered that Mrs Thandi fell in love with a Pakistan man whom she had met on Facebook the nightmare began. He offered the Sabeen to drop her off to work but instead he drove her around for 3 hours threatening to kill her with a hammer in his trunk if she did not revoke the order against him.

The next day the man was arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and unlawful imprisonment but was later released. Few days later police received several silent calls from the home the couple had shared and visited the house.

When Mohammed was asked about his wife's whereabouts he told that she was at work. While searching the house the police officers found strangled Mrs Thandi in their bedroom.

It was learnt that earlier he shared his intentions to kill his pregnant wife with his colleagues, saying that jails in UK were lenient and ranted about Oscar Pistorius' crime story. Mohammed Badiuzzaman pleaded guilty to murdering mother-of-three Sabeen Thandi and was sentenced to a minimum of 17 years in prison.

Numbers Of Escaped Chibok Girls Increases

Bana Lawan, the Chairman of Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, on Tuesday announced that four girls out of the 168 female students that were still held captive by the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram have escaped.

Kidnapped Chibok Girls

It would be recalled that on April 14, over 234 girls were kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School,Chibok, by Boko Haram sect members.

Speaking in Abuja at a one-day stakeholders meeting organised by the National Emergency Management Agency for validation of draft humanitarian response plan for the kidnapped girls, Lawan, who was represented by the Director for Personnel and Management, Musa Elijah, revealed that the number of escapees had risen to 57 as against 53, while 164 girls were still being held.

"The people of Chibok are anxiously waiting for the safe return of their children. Except for the unfortunate situation where two of the parents have passed on. They were known to have BP (blood pressure) issues, although I am not a medical expert, but they will not be opportuned to welcome back their daughters" Lawan said. "Latest report reaching us is that instead of 53, those that have escaped are now 57 and those remaining are 164 and not 168 as before. This is out of the 221 girls that were abducted."

The local government boss, however, stated that it was not all the girls that enrolled for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) in the school that came to write or stayed back.

"Those that registered for the SSCE are not all that sat for the exam. Over 500 registered and those who had relatives around decided to move to various places like Kaduna and Maiduguri to write the exams. Those that were left with no relations decided to stay back to take the risk and among them 221 were abducted," he said.

Lawan further pointed out that the educational zeal of a girl child in the North-East has been greatly affected by the incident.

"The school in particular has been existing for long and the quality of education in it has been diminishing. So I want to appeal to the Federal Government, through NEMA and the presidential committee, to intervene in rebuilding the school," Lawan said.

However, according to the Nation Newspaper report on Wednesday, the Chairman was quoted as saying that the girls fell ill and were released by their abductors, while the Punch Newspaper reported that the four girls escaped from their captors.

Meanwhile, the federal government had completed plans to negotiate with the terrorist group, who demanded the release of their brethren for the kidnapped girls.

The government, however, suddenly pulled out of the talks after they had invited a Dubai-based Nigerian journalist, Ahmad Salkida, who allegedly had close tie with the founder of the sect to mediate for them.

Gunmen Kill Four In Kuru Midnight Attack

Superintendent Felicia Anslem, the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson on Wednesday, announced that four persons were killed by unknown gunmen in Wat village, Kuru, in the Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, who made this known to newsmen in Jos, said the attack took place last night (Tuesday) when the villagers were already far asleep.

According to her, several other people were injured during the attack.

Anslem, who called on residents to stay calm, assured that the police had commenced investigation into the killings.

When contacted, the Media Officer of the Special Task Force in charge of security in Plateau, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha confirmed the incident.

He, however, refused to give further details on the midnight attack.

Meanwhile, two days ago, on 26 May, one passer-by was killed in an attack along Rayfield in this same local government area. Two others were rescued with about four persons still missing following the conflicts that accompanied the bomb blast that rocked the state capital at the weekend. The victims, who were in a Vento car with registration number XD 371 KWL were residents of Gude village in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Obasanjo Advocates Alternative, Peaceful Way To Free Chibok Girls

More details on the closed-door meeting between an ex President Olusegun Obasanjo, some Islamic clerics and negotiators with Boko Haram have been revealed.

OBJ welcomed Boko Haram expert Comrade Shehu Sani, the lawyer of slain leader of the sect Mohammed Yusuf, Alhaji Mustapha Zanna, and others in Abeokuta, the capital of his home state, Ogun, over the weekend.

Those at the meeting have principally agreed on five steps on how to get over 200 kidnapped GGSS Chibok female students released without violence. They have also expressed hope that the following plan would be acceptable for Jonathan’s Administration:

1) build trust between the Federal Government and Boko Haram emissaries;

2) convince the sect to release the captured students as a precondition. The demand to release the jailed sect members may be fulfilled only after it;

3) explore the options on how Boko Haram could be engaged;

4) arrange handing the girls over to some trusted Islamic clerics, involved in the process;

5) ensure immunity for Boko Haram representatives during meetings with OBJ, other officials and civil servants.

The former president has reportedly emphasised that this was the alternative way on how to solve abduction crisis. In case President Goodluck Jonathan does not give him a clearance to proceed with the talks, OBJ would quit the mission.

The attendees agreed that the girls should be freed as soon as possible, not only because of their physical sufferings, but due to mental issues as well. The fear that the girls would be brainwashed deepens.

It would be noted that in a separate interview after the meeting Comrade Sani declared that the only way to get the girls back safe is ‘swapping’. He feared that government’s unwillingness to embrace the dialogue may result in tragic circumstances.

The only Nigerian journalist who openly admits having contacts with the dreaded sect, Ahmad Salkida, has also warned the presidency against using force. Ahmad has allegedly forwarded some more video proof, indicating that Boko Haram takes care of the girls, to President Jonathan directly.

Kim and Kanye flew into Florence aboard private jets after kicking off their marathon wedding celebrations with a party in the Versailles palace late Friday.

Oscar Pistorius checks in to hospital for first of mental tests

Athlete arrives at psychiatric hospital in South Africa to begin the period of mental evaluation he was ordered to undergo by the judge at his murder trial

South African Olympic and Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius checked in as a day patient to Pretoria's Weskoppies psychiatric hospital on Monday for the first day of a month of mental tests ordered by the judge overseeing his murder trial.

The 27-year-old track star, who faces life in prison if convicted of murdering his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine's Day last year, sped past a scrum of waiting television cameras in a car with tinted windows.

A heavy police contingent kept reporters from entering the grounds of the hospital, one of South Africa's foremost mental institutions.

Pistorius has denied murdering Steenkamp, saying he shot four times at a toilet door in his luxury Pretoria home to protect himself from what he thought was an intruder lurking behind it.

However, a defence forensic psychologist testified that Pistorius also had an anxiety disorder, leading judge Thokozile Masipa to send him for a mental evaluation to determine whether or not the condition affected his criminal responsibility.

15-Yr-Old Boko Haram Attack Survivor Recounts Ordeal

Deborah Peter recalls attack of Boko Haram on her family

Deborah Peter, the only survivor of 2011 attack by Boko Haram insurgents on Chibok, recounted her story amidst the global attempts to find and rescue nearly 300 female students abducted more that a month ago from the local school.
Speaking before the committee in Washington, DC, USA, the 15-year-old girl pledged she would never return to Nigeria after having lost her father and brother, The Leadership reports.

Deborah narrated that on the fateful day of the 22nd of December she was at home with her family, when some men knocked on the door, and the girl's brother opened as he recognized one of the men. The people inquired about the siblings' father, who was taking a shower at that moment. They intruded the bathroom and started yelling at the man, who was a Christian father:

"The men told my dad that he should deny his Christian faith. My dad told them that he would not deny his faith. "

Otherwise they promised to kill him.

Deborah proceeded:

"They said that if he did not deny his faith they were going to kill him. My dad refused, saying that Jesus said whoever acknowledges him in front of man will be acknowledged in front of God. My dad said he would rather die than go to hellfire."

As soon as he uttered these words, he was shot thrice in the chest. The same fate befell Deborah's brother Caleb, who was shot twice in the mouth. According to the girl, her father was still breathing when Boko Haram terrorists killed his son and could see it all.

The shocked 12-year-old girl was made to lie there, between the two corpses of her closest relatives, until the next morning when the army came.

Soon after the incident a local pastor, Rev. Faye Pama, warned Deborah that those insurgents would come back after her and paid her so that she left. She was helped to flee to America. That pastor was killed in 2013 by Boko Haram in front of his children.

"Boko Haram decided later that they should have killed me because I am a daughter of an apostate Muslim mother who converted to Christianity."

The Nation reports that in conclusion Deborah, whose mother graduated from Chibok school, said:

"I decided to tell the world my story when the Chibok girls were taken because everyone needs to know how horrible Boko Haram is. They kill innocent people who never hurt them. I want the world to understand what happened to me. I hope the kidnapped Chibok girls will take courage from my story, and know more of what God says, and know what it means to stand strong in the face of bad people."

photo

Latest reports inform that the US has deployed 80 military personnel to Chad to help find more than 276 schoolgirls kidnapped inside the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State on 14 April, 2014.

Skynews reports that President barack Obama confirmed the deployment in a letter he sent to House Speaker John Boehner and to Senate lawmakers.

It was reported that Mr Obama said the personnel would help with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft for missions over northern Nigeria, which shares a border with Chad.

It was gathered that the team who are due to arrive on Wednesday may already be there, according to Pentagon spokesman Myles Caggins.

According to Caggins, the 80 U.S. military personnel will help expand drone searches of the region. About 40 of the troops make up the launch and recovering teams for the drone being deployed there and the other 40 make up the security force for the team. Caggins said this latest deployment will not involve ground searches by the troops.

Agonies Of Escapee Schoolgirl: How I Wish My Colleagues Joined Me To Escape

One of the abducted Chibok over 234 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram on April 14, 19-year-old, Sarah Lawan who escaped the Boko Haram terrorists den has narrated her ordeal.

Sarah who wished the other girls had summoned the courage to escape said:

“Each time I see the parents of my friends and classmates moving around in town with long faces, I feel sad, I feel like weeping again and I wish they agreed to run with us when we got the chance to run" she said.

Recounting her ordeal she said: “They told us that they are taking us somewhere safer, but warned that if any one of us dare tried to runaway they would shoot at us and kill us. So everyone was scared of disobeying their orders; even when I saw the opportunity to run”.

“We were driven on many trucks for hours to a point where we were told to go down the trucks; it was at that point, after I observed that the men that abducted us were not paying attention to us that I whispered to some of us to run, but many were scared because of the earlier warning; I was terrified as well but I and one other girl, summoned courage and snuck out and we began to run. We ran for hours until we got to where we saw people we could trust who later assisted us to get to Chibok”.

Sarah who called on the federal government to ensure the rescue of the other girls said: “Everyday I wake up with the hope that my friends would be rescued; everyday we keep looking towards the direction of the road leading into Chibok to see if the girls would be brought in; but everyday our hopes are dampened when the night comes and none of them come home.

The federal government and our soldiers must do everything to rescue them because I am always scared each time I remember the girls are with those men; they don’t look kind or gentle, they are not nice people to be with; I fear they don’t harm them.”

Teachers To Stage Nationwide Boycott Till Chibok Girls Are Back Alive

President of NUT Comrade Michael Olukoya

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) set another protest over the abducted Chibok schoolgirls on Wednesday as they directed all its members across the country to sit at at home this Thursday, May 22, 2014.

At a press conference in Abuja, the president of NUT, Comrade Micheal Olukoya, stated that the union had resolved to hold #BringBackOurGirls rallies, simultaneously, across the 36 Nigerian States of the federation and in Abuja.

According to Mr Olukoya, all schools nationwide shall be closed, as the day will be NUT’s day of protesting the abduction of the girls, as well as the heartless murder of 173 teachers.

Olukoya said that even they mourn the death of colleagues, they will start and continue with the protest until our girls are brought back safe and alive. "The perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to book," he added passionately.

Lamenting the killing of 173 teachers from both Borno and Yobe States, he implored the government to show concern to the plight of the deceased teachers by compensating their families.

Speaking about the abduction, Olukoya underlined that this was an assault on humanity and an attack on their professional industry, the school system in particular.

He described the innocent pupils as "the raw materials we process for the human resource development of the nation." Olukoya emphasised that "the importance of taking insurance cover for both students and teachers in the vulnerable political environment of the country."

Olukoya urged the government to publicly declare education as a fundamental human right, and to criminalise its abridgment.

According to his, teachers are now living in constant fear of attacks, and that the government must make provisions to secure the school system in order to guarantee a conducive environment for learning in the country.

Boko Haram Kills 17 In Alagarno, Borno State

According to latest news reported by journalists of BBC, Boko Haram are suspected to be responsible for killing 17 people in new attack in Alagarno village, in Borno State.

According to reports, the insurgents of Boko Haram spent hours at night allegedly killing innocent people in Alagarno village and than went away on stolen vehicles. They have arrived around 11 p.m. and left around 3 a.m.

The attack happened just a day after 118 died in bomb attacks in Jos city, the attack also made supposedly by Boko Haram and the same day as the other attack with 30 people dead in Shawa Damboa LGA, in Borno state.

Alagarno village is situated close to Chibok, from where over 200 girls were kidnapped over a month ago by Boko Haram.

As reported by witnesses of the attack, the attackers arrived around midnight and killed and looted for several hours. One of the survivors told the journalists of BBC that they torched every building in the city.

According to latest news, this morning the local citizens already started funerals for those that died in the attack.

Meanwhile residents comment in Twitter on the latest attacks.

Over 200 Casualties Counted At Different Jos Morgues

New reports coming in from emergency and health officials in jos states that the number of casualties from yesterdays bomb blast has risen to 200.

jos blast debris

A report by the National Emergency Management Agency North Central Coordinator, Abdusalam Abubakar had yesterday said that the number of casualties was 118.

Premium Times however paid a visit to the Plateau Specialist Hospital this morning and an official from the hospital confirmed that 15 patients who were in critical state passed away just before midnight last night.

Plateau Specialist Hospital, laboratory manager at the National Blood Transfusion unit Demne Kut confirmed the report saying that they died due to lack of blood in hospital as few donors had turned up to give blood.

He said: “Yesterday (Tuesday), we had 15 persons who came and donated bloody freely to the National Blood Transfusion, We are calling for more donors, ” he said.

This morning at the mortuary, Premium counted up to 52 corpses laying on the floor of the hospital's mortuary, most of these corpses were women and children, including seven pregnant women.

The situation at the Jos University Teaching Hospital was like a horror story, with about a 100 corpses pilled up on top of each other, making it hard and impossible to number.

At Bingham University Teaching Hospital, officials declined to comment on the state of the hospital as they where busy trying to save some of their patients in critical condition.

A source at Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH revealed that about 120 corpses was brought to the hospital.

Meanwhile the Plateau Police Commissioner, Chris Olakpe has revealed that the Jos main market will be shut until the security officials concluded their investigations and the area was cleared of debris.

Olakpe confirmed that yesterdays corpses and the injured were taken to four hospitals.

118 Killed, Scores Injured In Multiple Explosions In Jos

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said that no fewer than 118 people died in the twin bomb blasts which hit Jos Terminus Market on Tuesday in Plateau state.

This is coming after a Nigerian police official in Jos has informed that at least 45 people were killed in the bomb explosions.

The first explosion sounded at about 2:55 PM while the second happened about 10 metres away at about 3:20 PM around the same area, according to Premium Times.

Earlier reports on Sahara Reporters and CNN had stated that over 200 people were killed, up from the official 72 dead released earlier by government sources, as the two apparent car bombings had exploded 32 minutes apart.

The first exploded vehicle was a Peugeot J5 van (registration number XG 148 BLD) while the second blast was carried out with a Toyota van with a Gombe state license plate number.

According to an eyewitness, the second car (Toyota Sienna van) had been abandoned since 6 AM Tuesday morning. And at least five residents had informed police officials about suspicious car, but, unfortunately, no police arrived at the scene, and nothing was done until the car exploded some hours afterwards after a beeping sound.

Plateau Police Commissioner, Chris Olakpe, said one of the attack masterminds was killed in the explosion.

It was gathered that scores of injured victims of the explosion are being rushed to Ola hospital.

Earlier, the Commander of the Special Task Force (STF) on Jos crisis, Major General Dave Enetie, confirmed the incident, but didn't give exact number of victims.

Sound of the explosion was heard in Bukuru, which is about 20km from Jos city.

As at the time of updating this report, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack but Boko Haram insurgents are widely believed to have active cells in Jos.

The Islamist sect have attacked the city before but the area has not been heavily affected by the extremist uprising.

The group claimed a July 2012 attack at a funeral outside the city that targeted mourners and the security services.

Plateau state, which falls on the dividing line between Nigeria’s mainly Christian South and mostly Muslim north, has however seen waves of sectarian violence that has killed thousands over the last decade.

“What we are doing now is (trying) to evacuate the dead bodies… many of them are burnt beyond recognition,” said Mohammed Abdulsalam, are coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

“The fire is still raging. Many shops are consumed by the inferno,” he said.

Kingsley Egbo of special military unit deployed in Plateau said rescue workers and the security services had a tough time to control the crowd amid the chaos.

The bombings follow two separate attacks that happened in a suburb of the federal capital city, Abuja, on April 14 and May 1, that killed more than 90 people.

Four people were also killed on Sunday in a suicide car bomb attack in a predominantly Christian area of the northern city of Kano that had been previously targeted by the group.

A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, is one of the few prominent Nigerians to condemn the attack.

Reacting on his Facebook account, Fani-Kayode described the attack as horrible, while he also condoled with the families of those that lost their lives in the explosion.

3 Amazing Health Tips For Great Skin And Younger Look 16 May, 2014

Everyone wants to look their best and definitely way younger than they really are, but too many times we take certain things for granted, leaving our skin to suffer for it.

The human body may have been programmed to age with time and loose its elasticity, but there are a few cheap and totally safe ways for us to slow down the aging process and look our best, by cutting off some factors of our daily routine, and throwing in a few new ones.

Here are a couple simple health tips that guarantee a more healthy and beautiful skin and an attractively younger look even as your age increases.

1 - Protect yourself from the sun, prolonged exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and other skin problems, as well as increase the risk of cancer; We know completely staying away from the sun is not possible due to our daily activities but there are a few things you can do to protect yourself and minimize it’s dangerous effects on your skin – Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15, seek shade from the sun if possible, especially between 10am – 4pm when the sun’s rays are strongest. Wear protective clothing such as long-sleeved shirts, long pants and wide hat.

2 - A healthy diet can help you look and feel your best. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins. The association between diet and acne isn't clear – but research suggests that a diet rich in vitamin C and low in unhealthy fats and processed or refined carbohydrates might promote younger looking skin. Also remember to drink a lot of water, it has a lot of benefits and contributes immensely to you obtaining younger looking skin, shinier hair and a healthy body.

3 - Uncontrolled stress can make your skin more sensitive and trigger acne breakouts and other skin problems. To encourage healthy skin and a healthy state of mind, take steps to manage your stress. Set reasonable limits, scale back your to-do list and make time to do the things you enjoy and just relax; the results might be more dramatic than you expect. Also cut down on the use of harsh soaps and detergents as these tend to strip the skin of necessary oils and hence, its natural glow.

Pope Sends Warning Message To Boko Haram, Kidnappers And Arms Dealers

pope Francis
Apparently reacting to current acts of terrorism being perpetrated by the Boko Haram sects in north-eastern parts of Nigeria, Pope Francis early Thursday condemned all acts of terrorism, kidnapping and arms proliferation.

The Pope described the menace as “absurd contradiction” between the international community’s calls for peace, the proliferation of the global arms trade and the lack of attention to the suffering of refugees.

“Everyone talks about peace, everyone says they want it but unfortunately the proliferation of all types of arms is leading us in the opposite direction,” Francis told a group of new ambassadors to the Holy See.

“It would be an absurd contradiction to talk about peace, negotiate peace and at the same time promote or allow the arms trade,” he said at the Vatican ceremony.

While commenting on the issue of refugees, after the death of 17 asylum-seekers in a shipwreck near Libya on Monday, the pope said: “We can’t just chase after emergencies.

“It is time to confront this issue in a serious and responsible way with a political perspective.

“In a way it is cynical to proclaim human rights and at the same time ignore or fail to care for the men and women forced to leave their homelands who die trying or do not receive international solidarity.

“There are stories that make us cry and shame us about human beings, brothers and sisters… who undertake perilous voyages and undergo kidnapping, torture and all types of suffering, ending up sometimes dead in the desert or at the bottom of the sea."

It could be recalled that over two hundreds schoolgirls of Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State are still being abducted the Islamist militant group, Boko Haram.

The leader of the terror group, Abubakar Shakau, last week said he would not release the girls unless the Nigerian government swaps them with his brethren captured by the Nigerian military.

As at the time of compiling this story, Reports say the Nigerian government led by President Goodluck Jonathan is not ready to negotiate with the terrorists.

International communities, like the US, UK, China, France and others are already rendering assistance to the Nigerian government to fight terrorism and rescue the girls.

Boko Haram Plan to Invade Schools, Abduct Male Students In Makurdi, Benue State

The Boko Haram terrorist sect have threatened to invade the Government College and the Mount St. Gabriel Secondary School in Makurdi, Benue State, to abduct male pupils.

The Principal of the College Godfrey Ugudu disclosed yesterday he had received two letters dated May 14 with identical content. One of the two letters was picked up in one of the classroom, while another one found in the staff room. Both were written in pidgin English.

The letters contained a warning that the sect are going to attack the College and the neighbouring catholic Mount Saint Gabriel Secondary School either on Friday (May 16) or on Monday (May 19) with the intention to kidnap the boys to marry them to the Chibok school girls Boko Haram still hold in captivity.

According to the College principal, they immediately alerted the local police Commissioner for Education and reported the matter to Governor Gabriel Suswam. Ugudu subsequently commended the state government and security operatives for immediately reacting to the issue and ensuring safety of the pupils of both educational institutions.

On Saturday, security measures were enhanced at the Aper Aku Stadium road that links the two schools.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, about 500 of approximately 700 students are living in Government College (which is the alma-mater of Governor Suswam), while Mt. St. Gabriel is a purely boarding school.

The state police have confirmed the report.

African Leaders Declare War On Boko Haram

Leaders of African countries currently meeting at a security summit being held in France have collectively decided to wage "war" on Boko Haram.

The Paris summit brought together President Francois Hollande, Nigeria's Goodluck Jonathan, and their counterparts from Benin, Cameroon, Niger and Chad, which are all Francophone neighbouring countries to Nigeria, and who also stand chances of having the terrorist group's insurgencies spilling into their countries.

The host of the security summit, France President Francois Hollande has said that regional powers have agreed to share intelligence and carry out a "global and regional action plan" against the violent terrorist group which have claimed a lot of lives, maimed thousands of people and burnt down homes and villages in Nigeria.

According to President Francois, this involved "co-ordinating intelligence, sharing information... border surveillance, a military presence notably around Lake Chad and the capacity to intervene in case of danger".

The Presidents of the African countries collectively agreed to declare war on Boko Haram today at the summit; The President of Cameroon Paul Biya said: "We are here to declare war on Boko Haram" while the President of Chad, Idriss Deby added that it would be "total war".

President Hollande had earlier describe Boko Haram as a "major threat to West and Central Africa", and said it had links with al-Qaeda's North-African arm and "other terrorist organisations".

BBC's International Development Correspondent Mark Doyle also described Boko Haram as an international threat, which draws fighters from not just Nigeria but also from neighbouring countries like Niger, Cameroon and Chad.

The recent efforts being put together by the Nigerian government in collaboration with several other world leaders stemmed up the recent mass abduction of over 200 schoolgirls from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno state by the terrorist group which stirred a major outrage not just in Nigeria, but in several countries all over the world.

Gen Mohammed Removed Following Maiduguri Mutiny 15 May, 2014

After the Wednesday mutiny by the Nigerian soldiers of the 7th Division in Maiduguri Barracks, the division GOC, Major General Ahmed Mohammed, was removed, Vanguard reports.

It would be recalled that the soldiers started shooting sporadically at Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri, Borno State, because they were angry with the killing of their colleagues during an ambush, dissatisfied with not being given adequate weaponry and because of non-timely payment of allowances.

Following the mutiny the Nigerian military officials promised to investigate the incident.

Vanguard report indicates that Major General Mohammed was replaced by Brigadier General Mahmud Yakubu Ibrahim as Acting GOC. The appointment is said to come into immediate effect.

WOW! Teenager Sets New World Record In Text Messaging

photo

A 16-year-old boy, Marcel Fernandes Filho, from Brazil has set the Guinness World Record for the fastest texting on a smartphone touch screen.
Though Marcel set the record on April 25 in New York City, he was officially crowned the texting king today by Guinness.

Fernandes came to New York on the dime of touchscreen-keyboard startup Fleksy, which the teen has used since 2012.

The standard 25-word phrase Guinness uses for the text record-setting is: "The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human."

Fernandes typed out the strange sentences with perfect spelling and capitalization asd required in 18.19 seconds.

As a result, he edged out the previous record of 18.44 set by a 15-year-old using a Microsoft phone at the company's office in January.

The teen told TODAY has been "fascinated by Guinness World Records" since childhood, often searching online for strange and interesting records.

An excited Fernandes, who is studying physics at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, said he isn't "addicted" to texting, and he doesn't spend all day on his phone.

He told reporters that he's been an avid phone user since 2009, when he smashed his laptop with a hammer out of frustration because it was so slow.

An act that he didn't know would set him on the path to a world record.

Pandemonium On Lagos Island Over Bomb Scare

Residents, motorists and workers on Lagos Island were thrown into pandemonium in the early morning of May 15, 2014, Thursday, over a bomb scare.
Bomb Scare On Lagos Island

According to a report on PMNEWS website, the bomb scare occurred when three bags containing objects suspected to be bombs were discovered by traders on Tom Jones Street, near the ever busy Idumota market, Lagos Island, Lagos State, western Nigeria.

It was gathered through an eye-witness that when the traders saw the three bags, they immediately informed the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ebute-Ero Division, SP Barrister John Otahumele who responded by taking the bags away.

The report stated that the prompt response of Policemen from Ebute-Ero Police Division ensured that commercial activities were not paralysed on the Island today because most of the traders thought the three bags contained bombs.

A Resident living around the area said they woke up this morning and found some items made up of 3 cylindrical objects placed close to the central mosque at a busy intersection.

As at the time of writing this report, police source said the objects have been taken to the bomb disposal unit in Ikeja for further analysis.

Miner Survives 17-Years Underground

Cheung Wai, a 59-year old man, who survived underground for 17 years has been discovered by a group of coal miners from the western province of Xinjiang.

Wai and 78 other co-workers were trapped underground after the 1997 magnitude 7.8 earthquake that hit the region and caused the wooden support structure of the mine to crumble and collapse some large sections of the tunnels.

The other workers have long died but Wai miraculously survived.

The western province miners stumbled upon Wai, when the gallery they were excavating opened up on a section of an old mine.

They said Wai was in a bad shape when they found him, adding that he had been taken to the hospital for a complete evaluation of his physical and mental states.

Meanwhile, Wai was saved by the fact that some ventilation duct still connected his underground prison to the surface, allowing him access to air that was sufficiently pure to keep him alive.

He, however, stayed alive by eating the emergency stash of rice and water, stored in an underground depot for this kind of incident, feeding on the rats in the mine, and also collecting large quantities of some sort of phosphorescent moss, which constituted his only source of vitamins.

Wai's case constitutes a world record due to the universally recognized authority on record-breaking achievement, Guinness. The former record for surviving underground was 142 days and was held by a British man named Geoff Smith, who buried himself in the backyard of the Railway Inn with the intention of breaking a world record.

Mining accidents have killed over 4000 miners a year at the beginning of the millennium, but the country's government has put in place measures to curb the disaster as they have been clamping down on unregulated mining operations, which account for almost 80 percent of the country’s 16,000 mines.

According to government statistics, the shutting down of about 1,000 dangerous small mines last year has reduced the numbers of miners killed in a day to six in the first months of this year.

I Told You Stella Damasus Blasts Critics Over Missing Girls

She has the last laugh

Super Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus, is not happy with people who attacked and insulted her when she joined the#BringBackOurGirls campaign, and doubted that there was any abduction of the female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

Stella, like other celebrities in the country, had jumped on the campaign and spoke passionately of the need to rescue the girls but many doubting Thomases went to war with her, with some saying that the kidnap saga was just a political gimmick but with the release of a video by Boko Haram showing the girls, the mother of two called out to those who disparaged her.

Hear what she said:

Where are all the cowards, ignorant, uneducated and uniformed twerps who went on a rampage to insult me and tell me how stupid I was for talking about the Chibok girls?

Where are those that have been leaving comments and calling me names? Those that were trying to prove that the whole thing was a hoax and that I was spreading lies?

I hope you have seen the released video of Boko Haram and you have heard their demands.

Maybe now you will wake up and join the campaign, #BringBackOurGirls.

BringBackOurGirls: Students Threaten To Shun Children's Day Celebration

Nigerian children have hinted that they will boycott this year's Children's Day celebration in solidarity with the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents.

Speaking under the umbrella of the Nigerian Children Parliament at a retreat themed “Promoting the Participatory Rights of the Nigerian Child” in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state, the children said there will only be a need for celebration if the girls are safely rescued.

A member of the parliament, representing Benue State, Msendo Ahwah, said the security of the children is of paramount importance.

“I see no reason why we should be here discussing child participation when there is a more important issue. On May 27 we are celebrating Children’s Day. Supposing my sister was among the abducted girls, what am I celebrating when my sister is nowhere to be found,” she queried.

Another member, Johnson Ikpema, representing the FCT, noted that children were not represented at the National Conference and urged the nation’s leaders to allow children to contribute to nation building.

“We are here to make sure that the minds and opinions of the children are heard. Sometimes, I feel if I am given the opportunity, I could do better than the old men holding public offices,” Ikpema said.

Wizkid's Son, Boluwatife Joins #BringBackOurGirls Campaign

Fighting for his sisters
The latest and perhaps youngest entrant into the #BringBackOurGirls campaign is Boluwatife Balogun, the son of hip hop sensation, Ayo Balogun, who is popularly called Wizkid.

The young Tife who clocked three years a few days ago, decked in his school uniform, calls on the government to help bring back his sisters.

This is definitely the best photo we have seen since the #BringBackOurGirls campaign began gathering momentum as celebrities and world figures has been coming out to lend their voices to the efforts to rescue the abducted female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.
