El-Rufai bounces back, speaks on ordeal in SSS den Omokeshe Adeleye

All Progressives Congress (APC) Interim Deputy National Secretary, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has given an insight into his ordeal in the hands of Nigeria’s secret police. The former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, who surrendered to the State Security Service (SSS) yesterday after a three-day stand-off, was released around midnight after being held for more than 15 hours and left the SSS premises at in Asokoro, Abuja, at 12:35 a.m.
On how he found his interrogation, he tweeted about an hour ago: “great fun but boring.”
In another tweet, El-Rufai disclosed that he is on his way to Lagos but did not disclose his mission.
However, in keeping with his vow not to be silenced, he has resumed attacks on the ruling government, tweeting about the election timetable released two days ago by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC): “They have definite plans to rig the elections in Ekiti & Osun in 2014, & the entire nation in 2015. We will not be intimidated into silence!” In another tweet, he queried: “Why hold presidential election on Valentines day? Are they so desperate for apathy from youths?”…they intend to rig.”
El-Rufai had been invited last Thursday by SSS in connection with a newspaper interview in which he predicted bloody general elections next year but he insisted that he would not honour the invitation except the SSS obtained a court warrant. He thereafter disappeared from his Maitama home in the Nigerian capital and could not be traced by SSS operatives who stormed the place on Friday. El-Rufai was also not in his second Abuja house at Imani Estate when the SSS operatives went there to look for him.
