Boko Haram Suspected In Killing Of Borno State Villagers And Burning Of Homes

A Nigerian Army officer said Boko Haram is suspected in the killing of several villagers and burning down almost all the homes in Kawuri, Konduga local government.
The Nigerian Army arrived in the area Sunday night.  The officer said the survivors in the village, who escaped into the forest, said men came in droves and circled the area before they commenced what they said was a mass killing.
The officer said they brought some of the injured to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and other close-by hospitals depending on the victims’ cases, as well as some corpses.
Saharareporters made several attempts to reach Col. Mohammed Dole, spokesman of the 7th Division, Maiduguri.
Kawuri, Konduga local government is over 50 kilometers from Maiduguri town, headquarters of Borno State.
The attacks come barely a week after the new Chief of Defense Staff, Alex Badeh boasted that the military will crush the sect by April 2014.
An assertion Nigerian media has quoted President Goodluck Jonathan reiterating and backing.
